Juggling Commitments

This week was Rosie’s last week of freedom before moving to Vancouver and starting full-time work again. She has been very busy packing, cleaning and sitting around, but she managed to find time to complete this tricky jigsaw.

Ollie has already settled into his 4 hour working days, and is enjoying finding time to learn some new skills!

The ski hills open tomorrow and Ollie is very excited to get out there and do some sliding. Having not put on a pair of skis for several years, he wanted to have a little practise. Here he is doing some (slightly illegal) ski practise on a rough road near our AirBnB.

Rosie has been able to enjoy the snow for the last few times. Thom and Hannah kindly lent us their snow shoes and we had an (again slightly illegal) explore of the resort’s snow show trails.

We also found some professionally made sleds in our AirBnB. They were a bit better than last week’s homemade attempt (which has since fallen apart… oops).

Rosie is getting the bus to Vancouver on Sunday, while Ollie will finally get a couple of weekends on the slopes. After being stuck together 24/7 for almost 10 months, it’ll be a strange week. Tune in next time to find out if our relationship survives the long-distance.

  1. I am very much enjoying how as the Juggling video goes on Ollie’s hair seems to get more and more manic. What came first… the tennis balls or the project? Of course, Rosie is smashing it on what is clearly her first attempt.

That sled might be good to get you over the treacherous mountain paths to Vancouver.

    1. I’m a bit late with the replies here. Ollie found the tennis balls, someone down the road was giving away stuff after a clearout (that’s where the jigsaw came from too). I saw the tennis balls as a juggling opportunity. Ollie immediately took the tennis balls from me and wouldn’t let me play with them anymore.

      Story of my life.

  2. Very impressive juggling skills…Rosie you remind me of Anna when you juggle…that slightly unique, ambidextrous, unusual way of doing things….I think you’ve inherited it! Good luck in Vancouver Rosie, and enjoy those slopes Ollie…do NOT break a leg!!

  3. I remember one blog when your workaway hosts took you skiing so not quite true that it is a couple of years.
3 ball juggling, I managed it but 4 ball juggling is a mystery to me. (but so is cycling).
Do all birds (except Canadian Jays) leave Sun Peaks when the snow comes?

    1. That is true… but that was cross country or “Nordic” skiing. You do that on the flat, so it’s much less terrifying than the downhill skiing that Ollie has been doing.

No, there are lots of corvids still, and my favourite Whiskey Jacks who land on our hand if you have something tasty to offer them!
