It looks like our travels are definitely over for a while. Last weekend was spent looking for an apartment and are happy to say that we have found one that met our criteria: space for two desks, natural light and a mountain view. The rent is slightly more than we wanted to pay, but it is much bigger than all the others and has a lovely wide living area with lots of windows and a big balcony. As we will be working from home and spending most of our time there, we think it’ll be worth the extra expense. Unfortunately the furniture won’t be staying, so the interior design standards will be replaced by IKEA and thrift store chic. We are sure our decision wasn’t swayed by a summer of sleeping in caravans, cabins, a tent and our car. We get the keys next Friday.

Apartment hunting took up our whole weekend last week, so not much else to report. Rosie has been working full time in our AirBnB, dreaming of the views from the new apartment. Ollie has been doing a little bit of work, a little bit of skiing and a little bit of baking (he has taken over as chief bread-maker now Rosie is the chief bread-winner). We try to go out every day for a walk. It is best to go after dark, as the locals seem to be having some kind of Christmas decoration competition. Our favourite is probably the dinosaurs, with the helicopter piloted by penguins a close second (we forgot to take a picture of that one.)

We are hoping to get out of the city and go for a hike tomorrow, there are lots of parks, lakes and mountains that we haven’t visited yet. We should also do some shopping for our new apartment though, otherwise we’ll have to cook with our camping stove out on the balcony.

Ha! Got in before Loolar this morning!
We are all very jealous of your new apartment here! If you get nostalgic you can always put your tent up in the massive living room and sleep in that, and hang your food in a bag on the balcony so the bears don’t get it.
Happy furniture hunting.
And thanks for the theme idea for Christmas 2021….prehistoric Christmas it is!

We may not go as far as the tent and the bear bag, but we will be using the camping pans, sleeping on our camping mats and fighting over one camping chair…

Absolutely wonderful news! Another envious family here! Loving the Christmassy neighbours – they definitely beat even the most OTT Christmas light attempt over here!
Loving the views and nifty little open plan kitchen/diner…very ‘Neighbours’! Looking forward to seeing how festive you can make the balcony!
Here we are a little ‘bijou’, having to practically live around the electric heater in the front room, as the central heating has packed in (temporarily we hope!)

They are very over the top, I’ve seen a lot of people walking around just to see the lights, which is nice. Plus, all the electricity here is hyrdo power, so it doesn’t seem as bad for the planet…
Oh no! I see your heating hasn’t been fixed since your last comment, hopefully it will be by the next!

… what can I say. I have been distracted because I have been living the holiday cottage life of luxury… lazying in, not doing my washing up.. it is just nice to know that I too can live in luxury just like Rollie.
It looks great!! I cant wait to see what your spin on the decor will look like… remember the main priority for any good home is always, always a giant inflatable chrsitmas dinosaur for the balcony.

There are building rules about what you can and can’t display on your balconies… They don’t specifically ban dinosaurs.

On the subject of Christmas decorations, I have a dream, if you have enough space you could use several small decorations (or one long one) so that from one point it looks like one thing, and from another point it looks like something else.

I am not capable of the same wizardry as you. How on Earth did you come up with those designs?
